Music Videos for Original Artist, Tulsa’s own Ty Smith
Ty is a very talented young man who is on his way up in the country music industry. Hailing from his home town of Tulsa Oklahoma, Ty writes, records and performs his original music with an authenticity that deserves a video storytelling component, and that’s where Shipman Photography comes in. Additional to the expected video production, drone video and editing work we perform, I also serve as on-set creative director and script writer – writing visual storylines that follow the lyrics and musical vibe. Ae are very proud of the results below.

Your humble photographer’s own musical project – Riverside Rebellion with deeply personal song
Although it’s one of our favorite things, not all music videos need to have a lot of complicated characters and storytelling narratives going on in their music video. Sometimes less is more and you just need the band… and the genuine authenticity of a singer pouring her heart out in a song written from the soul. In this case, the song – Blood Moon is a tale from the opioid epidemic and the loss of a loved one to it. This video has close to 50,000 views on YouTube. Why not give it one more?

In the final year of the Cains Ballroom hosted Tulsa Music Awards, this classic video walked away with VIDEO of the YEAR
Our first full length music video back in 2019 was an instant classic for another original Oklahoma artist – Clayton McKenzie who wrote “PBR” for his band, the Gypsy Store Troubadours. Shot entirely in one location in Tulsa Oklahoma, this video production was an absolute blast, and it was truly an honor to help it achieve the visibility it deserved. Enjoy some PBR below.
Killer videos on a budget
Need a quick video that’s still stunning and purposeful?
We’ve had a couple of occasions in recent years to produce music videos that needed a quick turnaround and while they deserved an engaging video, the budget for these tracks didn’t include a full production schedule. To solve this problem, we simply collected an assortment of video stock files that fit with the story elements and put them together with the pacing of the song and storyline. The results are actually pretty incredible. While we can’t take credit for the creation of the video clips and animations, it was truly the editing of these assets into a complete story telling narrative that made these projects beautiful and compelling to watch while most importantly – serving the song.
The first is another offering from Riverside Rebellion called Broken Lines. The second is a collaboration between the Gypsy Store Troubadours and Riverside Rebellion, featuring Clayton McKenzie – covering Chuck Berry’s classic Run Rudolph Run.

Capturing Live performances in a cinematic production
Capturing live music and presenting it a purposeful way requires planning – both for compelling visuals and for high value audio – which needs to combine the cleanness of the board mix with the rowdy ambiance of the room. Tight shots on solos, cut scenes from one entertainer to the next. Nothing exemplifies the need for live music video quite like Tulsa’s own KISS tribute band Dressed to Kill.
